Dear Sir

Walke vs Powell the Defendant has a recd of Thomas
Mathews for £15 paid 2nd day of July 1782 in part of this Debt what shall
I do about it It appears to me he was Authorised to pay the money to
Mathews or G. Galt in Richmond. he paid me Yesterday 4 half
[loan] £9:12 & promises the Balls wch I think he will pay at our
[Court] that is deducting the 15 £ paid Mathews wch he refuses &
I do not think prudent to force. let me hear from you
