The 17^th Instant I returnd to province Hampshire w^ch
upon my return had acco^tt of y^e peoples refuseing
to obey y^e presidents warrantt by virtue of
an ord^r of Councill, y^tt men should be impressed to repaire there
Maj^tys fourtt. I am issueing outt warrants for you
to answer for ye[illegible] contemptt.

Jn^o Pickerin whoe headed y^e Mob in y^e revolution time
& copied all y^e Records in y^e province I sent my
warrants to him to deliver y^e records to y^e Secretary
he [did] some & Embezled others I haveing [mostt] w^ch a copy
of a will writt by him vizt y^e above is a true copy of y^e
originall will on File in y^e Records of portsmoth Dover

haveing by warrantt sent for him to apear before me
I produced y^e will & did show itt him & demanded if y^e
will was his writeing; & y^tt he had signed itt as record &
y^tt itt was a true copy, he owned he did write itt &c
I then issued outt a mittimus vizt province N: Hampshire

in province N: Hampshire for as much itt hath ben duely
proved before me y^tt Cap^t Jn^o pickerin of portsmoth late
recorder of y^e s^d province hath & doth outlandishly & illegally
Imbezell conceal sever^ll records w^ch were in his possession belong
ing to y^e s^d province afores^d those are therefore in yo^r Maj^tys
Name to will & require you to receive him into y^e s^d Goale
& him there safely kepe untill y^e next Superio^r Courtt
of Judicature to be held att portsmoth for y^e s^d province
on y^e first Tuesday in 8ber nextt there to be dealt w^th according
to y^e meritt of his offence &c: soe y^tt he is now y^e Kings
prission^r ; Nota he was Speaker of y^e Assembly, & did
draw up the answer to my Speach 14 Luk 28:29:30:

I have one thing to beg att yo^r hand, y^tt y^e suspending
of Mr Hincks & my pceeding w^th y^e Treasure^r may be allowed
of in England & y^tt of may spedily have signifacation
of y^e same if y^e Treasure^r be nott compelled to make up
his acco^tt in England farewell to yo^r Auditors place, for
News att Boston send you y^e enclosed: A new ship (when y^e
Kings flag was hoisted att (y^e fourtt) did hoiste y^e Union
flag w^th outt any Comission, soe I ordered itt to be taken
down. every person doeing w^tt they can to trample on
y^e Governm^tt y^e ship waiting for those lines cant enlarge.
