haveing this good ocation of my worthy friend
M^s Arathons goeing to scotland I could ^not omitt writ-
ing and with all Justly accuse you of breach of pro-
mise or what is worse forgettfullness either of which
Does not suite with those kind professions you so vol-
luntaryly made to my son when you were Last to-
gether I am sure there has bin noe faileure on his
side of kindness for he has often writ to you both
before and since he went and came from Flanders
with out any returne on your part: I have like-
wise writ my selfe but have had noe better susksess
then my son: I am willing to perswayd my selfe itt
has bin business rather then want of that natur-
all affection which ought to be between so neare
relations which has put a stop to that kindness
which was you well begun between you when
you saw each other Last: I hope you will not
sopose itt either Designe or Interst which makes
me so solisitous for a continnuation of a [Sencer]
corrispondence and friendship between you; the
neare tys of blood and the seneare sufferings of
your famely ought to bind you Inujolably to an
unalterable affection; and I am sure I may
promise on my sons part: and I hope there will
be noe faylure on yours: If he had bin in town
he would have writ him selfe but he is att this
time in the Cuntry forty mile of; but where ere
he I am certaine he is as I am with all sencerity
