Section 6B, Item 2C shall read:
First floor flooring and stair treads and risers shall be quarter sawn C&Btr grade or better southern yellow pine.
Second floor flooring shall be oak to match existing.
Interior millwork shall be C&Btr or better southern yellow pine with a maximum moisture content of 12% or less unless otherwise indicated on drawings,.
Exterior trim shall be C&Btr or better southern yellow pine with a maximum moisture content of 12% or less.
Weatherboards shall be C&Btr or better southern yellow pine or clear redwood with a maximum moisture content of 12% or less.
Section 8A, Item 2B shall read:
Door 101 and cabinet doors shall be C&Btr or better southern yellow pine with a maximum of 12% moisture content or less.
Contractor shall provide 4 sets of shop drawings of all millwork for review by Architects' Office. One copy shall remain with the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation Representative. One copy shall remain with the Architects' Office. Two copies shall be stamped with appropriate action to be taken and returned to the Contractor. Contractor shall not begin fabrication or installation of said millwork until shop drawings have been released to the Contractor by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation Representative.
Section 8B, Item 2B shall read:
All colonial type door hinges shall be fastened by rose head nails set thru leather washers. The nails shall penetrate the door and clenched, parallel to the wood grain, on opposite sides, in an established design.
The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation shall supply rose head nails A1 - 8.2 and leather washers.

A.I.A. payment, certification, change order forms will be used. These forms are available in the office of the Contract Administrator.

SCOPE:
The purpose of these specifications and working drawings is to:
Mortar - Mortar shall match existing on exterior and be composed of 1 part white cement, 2 parts lime, 6 to 8 parts sand, carefully chosen for color to bring color of dry finish sample to match with original mortar.
Mortar for backing and unexposed work shall be 1 part PAGE 4A-2 Portland Cement, 1 part lime and 6 parts sand. Mortar that has begun its final set shall not be retempered or used in any way.
Brick and block shall be laid on a full bed of mortar covering all horizontal faces. All vertical joints shall be solidly filled. Work shall be properly bonded.
All exposed mortar joints in face brick shall be cut clean to define the edge of the bricks and shall be struck to match adjacent work.
All masonry work shall be constructed true to line and dimensions, plumb and square. All courses shall be level, with uniform joints. Wet all bricks before laying in warm weather. When masonry is first set, they shall not be removed thereafter unless relaid in fresh mortar.
Provide protection against freezing. No masonry work shall be done without the approval of the Owner's Representative when the temperature is 45° and falling. This, however, in no way relieves the Contractor from the responsibility of removing and replacing frozen work.
Clean down all new exposed masonry with 3% solution of muriatic acid, followed by two washings of clear warm water and a copious use of a stiff nonmetallic brush.
Included:
Except as otherwise noted, the materials shall be as follows: All new interior finish shall be F.A.C. Grade Yellow Poplar, or Grade C Southern Yellow Pine.
Exterior millwork shall be constructed of Southern Yellow Pine, C or better, selected clear face, except that Northern White Pine (Pinus strobus) shall be used for doors and exterior casings and special glass door cabinet in storeroom.
All items later to receive finish paint shall be primed at the shop or mill before delivery to the job with materials as specified by the Architects' Office.
Items to receive natural finish shall be primed with Cereseal or an equal substitute. Back prime all millwork.
Blanket type Kraft faced Fiberglass building insulation R-11 shall be installed in the exterior frame walls of the first floor and R-19 in the ceiling of the shed addition. Unfaced fiberglass insulation R-19 shall be installed on the attic floor.
Insulation shall be equal to Owens-Corning or Johns-Manville and installed in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
Flashing around exterior openings shall be 4 oz. copper clad Sisalkraft. 16 oz. hot rolled copper shall be utilized for other flashing except the copper shall be lead coated where exposed to view.
Caulking shall be nonstaining compound of a color to match adjacent work and shall be carefully installed to produce a neat job and as obscure as possible.
Hollow metal frames shall be Ceco DWC Series, or approved equal, 16 gauge as recommended by the manufacturer. Frames shall be mortised and reinforced for hardware.
Frames to be primed with one coat of rust-inhibitive paint at the factory.
Stock cut New York galvanized nails with finish type heads shall be used on all interior work and nongalvanized for finish floors. Nails shall not be set below the finish surface and shall be driven in patterns as directed. All colonial type door hinges on doors shall be fastened by rose-head nails set thru leather washer.
PAGE 8B - 2Nail pattern, type and size shall be as directed by the Architect.
The nails shall penetrate the door and clenched, parallel to the wood grain, on opposite sides, in an established design. Leather washers for door hinges shall be manufactured by CWF.
Reuse existing doors and hardware from doors D-201, D-202, D-203, D-204, D-206 on second floor.

Windows are to have screens, locks and other modern appurtenances removed. Patch and repair as necessary. Reuse existing windows as needed. All windows to be equipped with W.I. shutter dogs to match existing. Each window with shutters shall have 1 pair W.I. H*L hinges CWF F-3, 7 7/8", 1 pair W.I. cabin hooks CWF F-21 length as required by conditions and 4 W.I. staples similar to CWF F-21. Reuse existing shutters and shutter hardware where possible.
MATERIALS AND WORKMANSHIP
Resilient flooring shall be sheet flooring as manufactured by GAF or the approved equal. Pattern shall be as selected by the Architects' Office. All exposed edges shall be trimmed as approved by Architects' Office and as shown on drawings.
Floor shall be thoroughly cleaned and properly prepared to receive the finish material.
Use adhesives as recommended by the manufacturer.

MATERIALS AND WORKMANSHIP :
Stairs shall be STAIR-SCAPE as manufactured by AUCIELLO IRON WORKS, INC., 355 Western Avenue, Boston, Massachusetts 02135 or approved equal. Operation shall be by gravity descent and spring mechanism. Type Access and Model No. A-24483 with height to be 10'2" and angle to be 72° with pull chain and ¼" plywood bottom cover.
Stairs to be installed per manufacturer's instructions (See drawings). Any blocking or modification on site to wood frame for stairs shall first be approved by Architects' Office
