John Ball was married to Elizabeth Bryan (daughter of
John & Lydia) at Campvere Tuesday evening March 6th 1804 by the
Rev. Milward Pogson Rector of St. James Goose Creek.
Elias Ball (Son of John and Elizabeth) was born in Charleston about 10 o’clock
Sunday morning March 17th 1805 and was baptized Tuesday 19th by the Rev. M. Pogson.
Elias Ball of Limerick, John Ball of Kensington and Mrs. Eleanor Simons were Sponsors.
He died in Tradd Street on Friday the 26th of September 1834
Aged 29 years 6 months and 9 days. And was interred in
the family burial place at Strawberry Chapel.
Lydia Jane Ball (daughter of John and Elizabeth) was born in Charleston
about 11 o’clock Thursday morning December 24th 1807. Was baptized by the Rev.
James Dewar Simons, Rector of St. Philip’s, January 18th 1808. _ Isaac Ball of
Midway, Mrs. Sarah Ludia Lucas and Mrs. Lydia Bryan by her proxy E. Ball were
Sponsors_She was married in Charleston on Saturday night September 29, 1827 by the Rev.
Alston Gibbes Asist. Minister of St. Philip’s Church to Francis Malbone Waring Eldest son of Dr. Edmund Thomas
Edmund Waring of Newport Rhode Island. She died at Comingtee St. John’s Berkely on Sunday
night 18th April [?] 1841 at 10 o’clock & buried in the family Cemetery at Strawberry [on Tuesday?].
Elizabeth Bryan Ball (second daughter of John and Elizabeth) was born in
Charleston about 9 o’clock Thursday morning November 10th 1809. Was baptized at
Campvere by the Rev. Christopher Edwards Gadsden Rector of St. John’s Berkley
January 31st 1810. Mrs. Lydia Bryan, Miss Elizabeth Catherine Poyas and
John Ball of Comingtee were Sponsors. _ She died in Hasell Street Tuesday
morning [15?] past nine o’clock June 13, 1826 of a short illness of an affection of the Liver
and was interred the following day in the family burial place at Strawberry Chapel.
Eleanor Simons Ball (third daughter of John and Elizabeth) was born in
Charleston Thursday noon February 17th 1811. Was baptized in Strawberry Chapel
Sunday March 8th 1812 by the Rev. John Jacob Tschudy Rector of St. John’s Berkley.
Keating Simons of Charleston, Mrs. Eleanor Simons and her Mother E Ball were
Sponsors. _ And died in Charleston Friday morning. 19 September 1817 victim to
the stingers or yellow fever. Aged 6 years 7 months and 12 days. And was interred in the
family burial place at Strawberry the day following.
John Coming Ball (second son of John and Elizabeth) was born in
Charleston 15 minutes after 1 o’ clock Friday morning 11 September 1812
and was privately baptized on Monday 12 October by the Rev. Mr.
James Dewar Simons. Was received publicly in St. Philip’s Church by the same
Clergyman Friday 13th August 1813. his Sureties are John Ball Senr. John Ball Junr. &
Sarah [Lye?] Lucas. Died at his residence Strawberry on March 19th May 1845 and was
buried at the Family Cemetery at Strawberry on the Wednesday following.
Elizabeth Ball died Tuesday morning 22 September 1812 in
Charleston aged 28 years 8 months & 17 days of Apoplexy and was interred
in the family burial at Strawberry Thursday following.
