About this entry:

Elizabeth Ripping Tarpley was the daughter of a prosperous tavern keeper in Williamsburg. She married John Tarpley circa 1726. They had four sons, one of whom was James Tarpley, merchant whose store has been reconstructed in the Historic Area. Mrs. Tarpley outlived all her sons.
